3-day Itinerary
Thessaloniki & North Greece wine tour

Day 1
After arrival at Thessaloniki’s airport, your unique Greek wine experience begins with a
meeting with a Greek wine expert and a transfer to one of the best city’s hotels. A short
briefing on the itinerary will be followed by an introduction to the Greek vineyard and its
wines, for a first, theoretical approach. Moving on from theory to practice we will have
an afternoon tasting of wines from the wider area of North Greece, accompanied by
cheese and cold cuts. The area of Macedonia and Thrace has been known since antiquity
for their vineyards and their wine production. Xinomavro as the indigenous variety is
dominant here, mainly for the production of red wines with very good aging potential,
but also for white and sparkling ones. After the wine tasting, free time at the city or
going at the hotel for the night rest.

DAY 2
After breakfast we will visit one of the top Greek wineries, Domaine Gerovassiliou in
Epanomi area. The winery hosts the most important wine museum of Greece and the
largest collections of corkscrews in the world. His modern wines are produced with
grapes from sustainable vineyards. Right after, we will visit the unique vineyard
Marianna in Lakoma area, that is producing delicious products from vine leaves and
grapes, for a whole new experience of what a vineyard can offer, besides wines. Moving
further on, we are visiting Mitroulis winery at Mikri Volvi to enjoy the unique setting near
by a lake and taste their wines produced by the oldest ever recorded Greek grape
variety. Late afternoon, we are heading to Naoussa for the overnight stay in a beautiful
boutique hotel.

DAY 3
After breakfast, we start our exploration in Naoussa region that the home of the most
important of Xinomavro, the most important red grape variety of North Greece and the
second in entire country. We will visit Dalamaras Winery, to meet the owners and taste
their delicious wines while getting informed of their really old wine making history and
tradition. Next visit to the Kir Yianni winery for more wine tasting of their famous wines,
as they are one of the oldest wine making families in entire Greece. Right after, we are
visiting the most important ancient Greek museum in Vergina, where the palace of King
Philip was (father of Alexander the great) to admire the palace and the unique museum.
Then, we are heading back to Thessaloniki’s airport.
